Modern Slavery Policy

Thomas Charles Facilities & Maintenance Ltd is committed to acting ethically and responsibly in our business operations and supply chain. This statement outlines our approach to reducing the risk of modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking in the services we provide and the suppliers we work with.

Thomas Charles Facilities & Maintenance Ltd has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking.

We are committed to acting responsibly, treating people fairly and working with suppliers, subcontractors and service partners who are expected to operate to appropriate legal and ethical standards.

Our Business and Supply Chain

TCFM provides facilities support, maintenance, key holding, site support, cleaning, refurbishments and waste solutions across a range of client environments.

Our supply chain may include suppliers, subcontractors, service providers, waste partners, materials providers and other business support providers.

We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist in supply chains and labour arrangements, particularly where work involves subcontracted labour, temporary labour, manual work, low-paid work, high-risk sectors or complex supply routes.

Our Expectations

We expect employees, workers, suppliers, subcontractors and service partners working with or on behalf of TCFM to:

  • comply with applicable UK law;

  • treat people fairly and with respect;

  • avoid the use of forced, bonded or compulsory labour;

  • avoid any involvement in human trafficking or exploitation;

  • provide safe and appropriate working conditions;

  • raise concerns where unethical or unlawful practices are suspected.

Supplier and Subcontractor Standards

Where practical, we aim to work with suppliers and subcontractors who act responsibly and can support appropriate standards of labour, safety, conduct and compliance.

We may review supplier or subcontractor suitability where relevant to the service being provided.

If concerns are identified, we will review the matter and take appropriate action, which may include seeking further information, placing conditions on work, suspending use of a supplier or ending a working relationship.

Awareness and Reporting Concerns

TCFM expects concerns about suspected modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking or worker exploitation to be reported to management.

Concerns may include, but are not limited to:

  • workers appearing controlled, threatened or intimidated;

  • signs of forced labour or debt bondage;

  • restriction of movement or withheld documents;

  • unsafe or unsuitable working conditions;

  • unusual labour arrangements or unclear employment status;

  • concerns raised by workers, clients, suppliers or members of the public.

Reports will be reviewed and handled as appropriately as possible.

Where required, concerns may be referred to the relevant authorities.

Our Ongoing Approach

We aim to reduce modern slavery risks by:

  • maintaining awareness of modern slavery and labour exploitation risks;

  • reviewing supplier and subcontractor arrangements where appropriate;

  • expecting responsible behaviour from those working with or on behalf of TCFM;

  • responding to concerns where they are raised;

  • reviewing this statement as our business and supply chain develop.

Review

This statement may be reviewed and updated as our business, services, supply chain or legal requirements change.
